ExLibris Aleph Integrated Library System

FCLA administers the ExLibris Aleph Integrated Library System (ILS) for the 11 SULs. Staff (ILS) functions supported by FCLA include circulation, acquisitions, cataloging, course reserves and database maintenance. The Interlibrary loan function is being reviewed. FCLA also supports the Aleph OPAC. Our main user interface is the Mango Catalog which is largely based on bibliographic records from Aleph. We are currently on Version 18 of the Aleph software. We will be upgrading to V.19 this summer. During this transition we will also be moving from servers with the IBM AIX operating system to Redhat Linux servers.

GUI Modules	Acquisitions/Serials	• Acquisitions - Ordering, invoice handling, material arrival, claiming, EDI, Acq related services. • Serials - Subscription management, frequency prediction, issue and item control, routing, claiming, Serials related services.
	ALEPHADM	GUI view of the library's Aleph tables that controls how the system works.
	Cataloging	Cataloging, Cataloging-related services.
	Circulation	Loans/returns, requests, patron management, cash management, reading room, some item control, Circulation related services.
	ILL	Interlibrary loans, both incoming and outgoing. ILL related services.
GUI Functions	Search	Search is included in each of the modules; it serves as a way to find a record to work on. In Cataloging, it also includes cataloging capabilities for headings.
	Items	Item management is included in the Cataloging and Acquisitions/Serials modules. Items information and some management are included in the Circulation module.
	Task Manager	Monitoring of batch reports and processes, printing. Task Manager is included in all the modules.
Web	Course Reserves	Course information and reading materials.
Standalone GUI	Offline Circulation	Basic Circulation activities without main GUI and/or access to the server.
